OpenSim - Walkthru

I have been writing up a bash script to quickly and easily make new OpenSim Servers. I won't say its 100% finished, but it works well. This bash script is made to run on Ubuntu 9.04 as root (not sudo), and assumes you have Apache & SSH installed.

This is only my second bash script ever, so please if you have ideas on how to improve it, leave a comment at the bottom.

What you end up with:

  • Standalone sim
  • Website for your sim
  • Groups & Offline chat enabled
  • Monit
Be sure to:
  • Run as root
  • Check to ensure Apache is installed
  • Go through the top of the script and change passwords and login info
In the beginning it will request some input from you. They are in this order:
Ubuntu User password
SMTP user password
website domain name
Uncomment all commented out repositories
